Education & Training
Stephen Morley began his nursing career as a psychiatric nurse at Spring Harbor Hospital in Portland, Maine, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to treat children and adolescents with autism and developmental disabilities. He then worked as a home care registered nurse, traveling to patients’ homes and caring for people with a wide variety of medical conditions.
After being awarded a highly competitive NURSE Corps Scholarship, Stephen went on to pursue his Master’s of Science in Nursing from Boston College’s Connell School of Nursing. While completing Boston College’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, Stephen received his clinical training at the Veterans Administration Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Lowell, Massachusetts and at Walden Behavioral Care’s Waltham clinic.
As part of the national NURSE Corps program, Stephen was proud to spend his first two years as a mental health nurse practitioner working at a Federally Qualified Health Center, providing psychiatric care to underserved individuals at a community health center in Manchester, New Hampshire.
One of my favorite nursing professors at Boston College, a Jesuit priest, taught me that we are all vulnerable and will need help at some point in our lives. My goal is to follow this inclusive philosophy by providing compassionate, evidenced-based care to all my clients. To me, patient-centered care means creating a collaborative experience that supports individual autonomy while taking a holistic approach to wellness.
As he enters private practice, Stephen is grateful for his years in community health care. He believes the breadth and depth of that experience have given him greater perspective, allowing him to become a more well rounded, compassionate health care provider.
